Chender: NDP motion on funding support for child care passes at Human Resources Committee

HALIFAX -- NDP Education and Early Childhood Development Spokesperson Claudia Chender made the following statement after the Human Resources Committee meeting:

“I’m pleased the Human Resources Committee voted unanimously to support the need for the provincial government to step up and properly fund child care centres across our province.

The entire child care sector has been put under a great deal of pressure as they adapt to operating under the COVID-19 guidelines without sufficient funding. We need the government to act to guarantee we will not see layoffs and closures of child care centres. I hope the Minister will take this seriously.”
