Failed report card template phased in under Casey’s watch

NDP MLA Becky Kent says she is surprised to hear Liberal education critic Karen Casey speak out about a report card system that she helped to introduce while serving as Minister of Education.
“I share Ms. Casey’s concern about the report card template. However, I think it’s only fair Nova Scotians know it was under Ms. Casey’s watch that these changes were implemented,” said Kent, Ministerial Assistant for Education.
Consultation around report cards took place roughly ten years ago. The PowerSchool system was developed out of those consultations and started almost 8 years ago. The system and the report template were phased in over time.
“Ensuring that parents and students are getting the feedback they need from report cards is very important. We will be looking at this issue closely to find a solution,” said Kent.
