McNeil government needs to ensure hub schools are successful

July 23, 2015

The McNeil government needs to protect the education system in rural communities by giving the hub school model a chance to succeed says NDP Leader Maureen MacDonald.

MacDonald says the government needs to be prepared to invest in the model today to protect rural schools in communities like River John for years to come.

“Today families from River John are meeting with the Premier and I’m hoping they get a fair hearing that will result in a change of heart and a reversal of the decision to close their school,” says MacDonald. “The government’s regulations on hub schools are deeply flawed and these communities are the victim of a process that can’t be seen as anything other than in bad faith.”
