Minister should have reviewed River John School decision sooner, not later

(Truro, NS) The McNeil government should not have waited until the 11th hour to review the closure of the River John Consolidated School says NDP MLA Lenore Zann.
Zann says it’s imperative Minister Karen Casey provide families with details and a timeline of how the review will proceed. She also wants to know why the Minister did not begin a review when the decision was first made to close the school in June.
“Given how the hub school model was set up, families in River John don’t have a lot of confidence the Liberal government will do what’s in the best interests of their children,” says Zann. “This small but mighty rural community has been working hard for two years to jump over impossibly high hurdles set by the school board. Now we are two weeks away from the start of the school year, parents deserve to know how long this process will take, and if the decision to close River John Consolidated is overturned, when the school could reopen.”
