Teachers have made their concerns clear: increasing challenges in the classroom are making it harder for teachers to teach, and for students to learn. Stephen McNeil has finally decided to return to the bargaining table--but after refusing to negotiate with teachers, running ads aimed at discrediting teachers, and speaking in the House against concerns about the classroom, there is reason to doubt his intentions. We believe teachers when they say that improving classroom conditions should be a priority for the Nova Scotia Government. We believe the only appropriate place to negotiate needed changes is at the bargaining table, not through statements in the media, and not through the threat of legislation that limits labour rights. It's time for Premier McNeil and Education Minister Casey to listen to teachers, parents, and students.
I support teachers in Nova Scotia.
I support the demand to repeal Bill 148.
Keep me updated about the work of the NDP to support teachers, nurses, and other front-line workers.
