Martin: Hospital cuts and closures must stop

NEW WATERFORD- Tammy Martin, NDP Health spokesperson and MLA for Cape Breton Centre, made the following statement about the closure of inpatient beds at the Glace Bay Hospital:

“People in Cape Breton are crying out for help. We’re losing our hospitals. Our emergency rooms are closed for weeks at a time. And now, Stephen McNeil and his Liberal government are closing inpatient beds in Glace Bay.

We have two Cabinet Ministers in Cape Breton who have said boo about the health crisis facing Cape Bretoners.

This has to stop. We need help, not further cuts. I am pleading with Stephen McNeil and Ministers Mombourquette and MacLellan to admit we have a crisis here and ensure our people have access to the care we need.”
