Nova Scotians should have their say: NDP

HALIFAX – Today, Official Opposition Leader Claudia Chender launched her Your Community, Your Voices tour. Chender and members of the NSNDP caucus will hold townhalls and roundtables across the province to engage with Nova Scotians on their priorities this summer.

“People in our province are telling me that they’re worried about the new approach they’re seeing from the Houston government. They’re seeing what’s happening south of the border, and they worry about governments having too much unchecked power,” said Chender. “Nova Scotia’s greatest resource is the amazing people who live here. This summer, we’ll continue the conversation and work to make Nova Scotia a better province for everyone.”

Amid trade tensions with the U.S., the ongoing crisis in health care, and out-of-control cost-of-living increases, Nova Scotians are concerned about what the future holds and why the Houston government isn’t stepping up.

“Instead of working to secure the things that matter to Nova Scotians, Houston’s Conservatives have taken every opportunity to consolidate their own power, ignore people’s rights, and keep Nova Scotians in the dark about what they’re up to,” said Chender. “Now more than ever, people want to know there are affordable homes for them to rent or buy, reliable primary care in their communities, and some relief from their monthly expenses. We all want to see our province grow and thrive. That work has to be done with Nova Scotians’ input.”

Chender’s first town hall is on Wednesday, June 25, in Wolfville. Additional events will take place throughout the summer in Hants County, Cape Breton, Antigonish, the South Shore, and HRM.
