Premier’s decision to deem Energy a part-time file irresponsible

January 7, 2015

(Halifax, NS) NDP Energy Critic Frank Corbett says the Premier needs to explain why he is allowing the province to be without a full-time Energy Minister for an indefinite period of time.

“Work on the Maritime Link is just beginning, energy markets are particularly volatile and a review of our electricity system is underway. The province can’t afford to be without a full-time Energy Minister.”

Corbett says he understands Younger is dealing with personal issues but says it’s unproductive and irresponsible for the Premier to allow the management of the Department of Energy to be on a part-time basis.

“Energy is an important portfolio and not having a dedicated full-time Minister for an undetermined period of time isn’t a wise decision.”
