For immediate release.

HALIFAX – To prepare for the upcoming fall session of the House of Assembly, NDP Leader Gary Burrill has announced new legislative roles and critic portfolios for the NDP Caucus.

Newly elected MLA for Halifax Needham Lisa Roberts will enter her first session with a number of critic portfolios including Housing, Immigration, and Municipal Affairs.

“Our caucus is lucky to have such a talented and experienced advocate in Lisa to add to our team,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill. “Lisa’s extensive experience amplifying community voices and working for concrete change will be a major asset in holding Stephen McNeil and his government to account for the crisis in affordable housing in our province.”

MLA for Queens-Shelburne Sterling Belliveau will be the NDP Leader in the House. Belliveau was elected in 2006 and has previously served as Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Minister of Environment, and Caucus Chair. Dartmouth South MLA Marian Mancini will move to the role of Caucus Whip in order to focus more on constituency work.

“I want to thank Marian for her dedicated service as the Leader in the House over the past seven months and am grateful we can support her in her decision to focus on her constituency responsibilities,” said NDP Leader Gary Burrill.
