Home care waitlist triples in Capital District
March 12, 2015
NDP MLA Dave Wilson says the Liberals have allowed the home care waitlist to triple in the Capital District because they have been preoccupied with picking fights with health care workers.
Earlier this week the NDP received a FOIPOP that shows the waitlist for home care in the Capital District has grown from 86 to 254 since October 2014 (see attached).
“Leo Glavine has been saying his focus has been improving home care but the numbers indicate otherwise,” says Wilson.
The waitlists in the Annapolis Valley, Pictou and Antigonish have also increased since October. Overall, from April, 2014 to February, 2015 the waitlist province wide has increased from 422 to 883 people.
“Province wide the waitlist has doubled since last April and things are especially bad in HRM. It’s time Stephen McNeil make health care a priority.”
