HALIFAX – Today, NDP Leader Gary Burrill announced that the NDP Caucus will introduce bills to eliminate tuition fees at the Nova Scotia Community College and to implement all the Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission within provincial jurisdiction, during the upcoming fall session of the legislature.

“Our agenda is twofold: to hold the Liberals to account on issues that matter to the people of our province, and to advance policy in the direction of social, environmental and economic justice,” said Burrill.

The NDP Caucus will also be focussing on the cuts to long-term care throughout the province. In the spring, the Liberal government cut more than $6 million from long-term care facilities resulting in staff layoffs, cuts to food budgets, and programming cuts.

“We look forward to presenting an alternative to the Liberals’ program of cutting back, pruning back, and taking things away—an agenda of investing in our people’s health, opportunities, and incomes,” said Burrill.
