November 1, 2016

HALIFAX — Today, the NDP questioned the Liberals on a series of lies and broken promises the McNeil government has made in the last three years.

“There is very little evidence in the McNeil Liberal record of truthfulness and integrity,” says NDP Leader Gary Burrill.  “The people of Nova Scotia deserve a government whose commitments can be trusted.”

REALITY CHECK – Today, three years into the Liberals’ mandate, over 100,000 Nova Scotians don’t have a family doctor.

Liberals’ claim on collective bargaining – Respect collective bargaining.

REALITY CHECK – The Liberals have constantly undermined free and fair collective bargaining and have disrespected teachers, nurses and all other public sector workers. Their actions include Bill 30, Bill 37, Bill 1, Bill 100, Bill 148, and more.

Liberals’ claim on Nova Scotia Power – Break Nova Scotia Power’s monopoly.

REALITY CHECK – Three years later, Nova Scotians are still forced to buy electricity from Nova Scotia Power.

Liberals’ claim on clear-cutting – On track to meet the 50% reduction target.

REALITY CHECK – The 50% clear-cutting reduction target seems to have been abandoned and the percentage of our crown forests being clear-cut is up.

Liberals’ claim on the Film Tax Credit – Extend the Film Tax Credit for another five years.

REALITY CHECK – The Liberals eliminated the Film Tax Credit.
