Statement from NDP Leader on today’s teacher walkout

February 17, 2017

For Immediate Release

HALIFAX – NDP Leader Gary Burrill made the following statement about today’s historic walkout by the province’s 9,300 teachers:

Across our province, teachers are people who hold the weight of our communities on their shoulders. The McNeil government’s treatment of the people who teach our children and who often serve as the backbone and life blood of our communities, is unjustifiable.

Today’s historic strike is another cry from teachers that they are drowning. While the McNeil government would rather decimate the health, well-being and morale of teachers, our Party wishes to express our support to teachers, parents and students.
