NSNDP Candidate Melinda MacKenzie launches campaign in Pictou

PICTOU – Melinda MacKenzie’s campaign is officially underway after an office opening and campaign launch event in Pictou on Sunday. MacKenzie is the Nova Scotia NDP candidate in the current Pictou West byelection.

“Provincially, we’ve got big issues like affordability, housing, healthcare, education, and environmental justice that need government attention, and I hope to advocate for better, for all of Pictou West’s residents as your next MLA,” said MacKenzie at the launch.

“I believe our provincial government needs to do more to attract health care professionals. Great work has been done by groups like Healthy Pictou County, to promote, recruit and retain healthcare professionals in our communities, but we need to address salaries as costs go up and we already aren’t even competitive with other provinces.”

MacKenzie, volunteers, and NSNDP Leader Claudia Chender spent Sunday afternoon canvassing in Pictou.
