Statement from NDP Leader Gary Burrill on today’s student walkout

December 2, 2016

For immediate release.

HALIFAX – Gary Burrill made the following statement about student walkouts across Nova Scotia today in support of teachers:

“First parents, and now students, have sent a strong message that they stand with teachers in their concerns about classroom conditions. Who understands better that teachers’ working conditions are students’ learning conditions than student and parents?” said Burrill. “The Premier and the Minister of Education have made it clear that this government is willing to pay any price to balance the budget. Students, parents and teachers have responded with broad support for investing in our children and their classrooms. The Liberal government has a responsibility to respond to these concerns at the negotiating table with actual solutions to issues in the classroom.”
