(Halifax, NS) On behalf of the Nova Scotia NDP Caucus, Leader Maureen MacDonald sends deepest sympathy for family, friends and colleagues of the RCMP officers who were killed on the job last evening in Moncton.

“I can’t say how deeply shocked and saddened our caucus is by the loss of these honourable RCMP officers who were killed while protecting the public they serve. I want to send our deepest and sincere condolences to their families and colleagues who are suffering in this moment. This unthinkable situation is a painful reminder to us all that police professionals put their lives on the line every day to protect us.”

MacDonald is also sending thoughts and prayers to residents of Moncton today as the manhunt for the suspect responsible is ongoing.

“Moncton is our neighbor. We all know someone or have family in this area, and our caucus is watching with concern and praying for the safety of all citizens and police involved in this unbelievable horrific situation.”
